Graduation Day — with the special day approaching, the coming weeks will bring caps, gowns, and smiling faces as the class of 2019 welcome their transition into adulthood. Past graduation seasons have shown that finding a hairstyle to complement your cap and gown is no easy task. Co-owner and master hairstylist Michele Anzivino of Gainesville’s Ciao Bella Hair Salon recommends checking out these celeb-inspired trends that will have you looking stunning as you walk across the stage.

As we all know, the weather in Gainesville is incredibly hot and humid around graduation time. Anzivino says a great way to avoid frizz and stay cool is to sport a low bun like Selena Gomez’s on your special day. This look is also a super cute and easy way to style your hair under a cap.

2. The Beachy Waves

Jennifer Lawrence’s beachy waves have become her staple hairstyle on the red carpet. The curls create an effortless vibe that looks flawless even when you take your graduation cap off. Anzivino recommends this style because of its versatility as it can be worn in many ways depending on how tight or loose you prefer your curls to be.

3. The Fishtail Braid

At the Ciao Bella Salon, many clients are requesting Sarah Hyland’s fishtail for special occasion styles. The elevated side braid looks romantic and elegant while keeping your hair out of your face. To recreate this look at home, make sure to pull out the pieces of hair that frame your face and curl them with an iron.

4. The Half-up, Half-down

If you would prefer a combination of curls and keeping your hair pulled away from the face, then the half-up and half-down style worn by Blake Lively is the one for you. Anzinivo suggests wrapping your hair around the iron in alternative directions to achieve a natural look. Once the curls are in place, secure the pieces of hair that frame your face with a clear elastic and you’re ready to go!

5. The Low Pony

Honestly, Jennifer Lopez never fails to disappoint when it comes to her taste in beauty and hair trends. If you’re interested in recreating her popular, chic ponytail, begin by parting your hair before applying styling cream and securing the low pony. It’s as easy as that! Anzivino advises to not forget to make sure the ponytail is low enough to fit your cap.

6. The Blowout

The blowout is a great way to create a simple look that is both straight and has body. Jessica Alba sports a blowout when she wants to keep things more natural, which might be what you’re looking for on graduation day.

One of these styles is sure to have you feeling your best for graduation! If you’re still unsure of which hairstyle is best for you, the hairstylists at Ciao Bella Salon are always happy to answer questions and offer services.

Walmart’s Builds the Future of Retail with In-House Incubator and Virtual Reality Experience

Dreamworks and Walmart team up to promote How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World in Virtual Reality.

The retail company will use emerging technologies to create immersive experiences.

Leading tech companies such as Google, Facebook, and Samsung have been promoting experiences like Virtual Reality for years, however, could the retail giant Walmart be the driving force to help the technology become more established and mainstream?

In the latest addition of Adweek, digital marketing analyst and author, Marty Swant, writes about how Walmart’s debut of Spatial&, a newly developed in-house incubator in his article, “How Walmart’s In-House Incubator Is Imagining Virtual Reality for Retail.” Using emerging technologies, the company’s incubator will feature engaging experiences such as virtual reality and augmented reality.

According to Stan, “During an onstage interview at the Brandweek: Challenger Brands event earlier this month, Katie Finnegan, CEO of Spatial&, said Walmart created the incubator to begin planning for what retail could or should be in five or 10 years.” Experts believe that Walmart is better positioned to bring knowledge of this technology to the average consumer due to the retail giant’s immense exposure.

Walmart’s development of VR programs has long term goals. Founders of Spatial& aim to better understand how the technology will coincide with the future of merchandising.

The VR technology will serve to simplify the shopping experience. Last year, Walmart experimented with the software to help consumers purchase tent equipment that is difficult to visualize. Shoppers were able to use the VR experience within their own homes to envision what walking around in the tent would look like.

For the release of Spatial&, the company partnered with Dreamworks to advertise the new film How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World. A tractor filled with VR and sensory equipment will travel to over a dozen Walmart locations so viewers can interact with characters from the movie. The experience will end in a VR you aisle and gift shop featuring toys based on the film.

Unruly Surveys Rank Microsoft and Google Super Bowl Ads the Most Effective

Data from the video marketplace highlights the effects of emotional impact

PRESS RELEASE UPDATED: FEB 7, 2019

Researchers say that emotional appeal as a branding strategy is even more effective than content information. Studies prove it is the best way to create a connection with consumers to give people the intent to make brand decisions.

In the latest addition of Adweek, creative strategist and author, Erik Oster, writes about how the 2019 Super Bowl ads express the importance of a brand’s emotional awareness in his article, “Microsoft and Google Were the Two Most Effective Super Bowl Ads, According to These Stats.” Unruly’s survey results reinforced this claim and ranked Microsoft and Google the top two brands to yield the greatest impact.

According to Oster, Unruly’s survey contains EQ score statistics that “are derived from composite metrics comprised of emotional impact, authenticity and purchase intent.” The ads to win top spots created feelings of pride, inspiration, and happiness for viewers, which further increased consumer engagement.

The Microsoft ad “We All Win” took first place with an Unruly EQ score of 7.5. The tech brand aimed to connect with potential consumers by showing how disabled children can enjoy gaming with the Microsoft Xbox Adaptive Controller while advertising the brands “Reindeer Games” holiday spot.

Google’s ad “100 Billion Words,” followed with an Unruly EQ score of 6.7. The commercial created a feeling of unity and connection by showcasing how words can bring people from different backgrounds together. High marks were earned for the ad’s credibility and authenticity.

Based on the research done on the feedback of these commercials, it is apparent that emotional advertising can be very successful. Advertisers have become increasingly more emotionally aware because of the connection these types of ads elicit with the consumer. Overall, an emphasis on emotion and authenticity leads to higher audience engagement.

Who I Am

New York City

Hi and welcome! My name is Hannah and I’m a third-year student pursuing a degree in advertising at the University of Florida. My love for creative content stems from my interests in art and fashion. I am passionate about designing visuals and developing strategy through market planning.

I love graphic design, media planning, brand strategy, and account management. I am most interested in both creating content that is engaging and tailored to the brand of a company as well as building strategy to promote brand performance. I recently received an internship with Elevate Agency and am eager to learn more about the advertising field.

For as long as I can remember, I have been captivated by the world of fashion. It is one of the only forms of art that is inclusive of people of all walks of life and allows for freedom of personal expression. I am hoping to pair my love of fashion with graphic design by finding a career in advertising in the fashion industry.

I dream of taking my skills to New York City, one of the fashion capitals of the United States. I love the city’s blended culture and fast-paced lifestyle. After graduation, my goal is to work for an advertising agency in New York City that specializes in fashion.
